Description
Exceptional components are needed to craft a fine wine. We like to play with blends, and after being with us for more than 20 years, so does our winemaker, Julianne Laks. She has assembled a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Merlot and Petit Verdot that highlights a spectrum of ripe characters with supple tannins and an element of well-matched oak to amaze your palate.
Aging Process
Aged for 20 months in French oak selected specifically for this blend. The barrel staves are a blend of French oak from Vosges and Allier which allow very slow oak extraction and very fine tannin.

I started college studying chemistry, then when my family moved to the Napa Valley and I fell in love with the wine industry. My father worked as a winery engineer for Robert Mondavi Winery, and he enlightened me with winery design and layout for energy conservation. I was fortunate to work with Myron Nightingale, where I learned the fine art of blending.

Education: BS in Fermentation Science UCD; worked alongside Myron Nightingale with great appreciation for his sensory skills and humorous view of life; I briefly got to know Andre Tschelicheff while working at Beaulieu Vineyard and admired his passion for great wine and his intimate knowledge of the vineyards.

Q&A With the Winemaker
Q: Premiere Napa Valley wines are innovative and allow each winery to showcase the region's sense of exploration in fine winemaking. What kind of exploration did your Premiere Napa Valley wine allow you to do?
A: This was a special blend of 3 lots of 2008 Cabernet Sauvignon, 75% from our estate vineyards and 25% from a renowned vineyard in Oakville. The blend was an opportunity to combine distinct vineyards to create a spectacular wine with seamless tannins.
Q: What was your inspiration for this offering?
A: My inspiration was to allow the diversity of three vineyards to compliment one another in a balanced blend of perfection.

A: I chose to make this wine from this particular Cabernet Sauvignon because 50% CS from Howell Mt. and 50% CS from valley floor showcase the classic beauty of Napa's famed vineyards.

A: Because it will age gracefully for 10 years and it will rock your wine senses each time you open a bottle.
