Cabernet Sauvignon
Napa Valley

Description

Indulge in the rare privilege of Renaissance, a 2024 Cabernet Sauvignon drawn from a single, exceptional barrel of 100% estate fruit. Sourced from the estate’s oldest Cabernet blocks and planted in 1990, this wine reflects 35 years of vine wisdom and a site shaped by volcanic soils and dual exposures. Guided by the renowned trio of consulting winemaker Celia Welch, viticulturalist Steve Matthiasson, and winemaker Michael Costley, it undergoes native fermentation and 22 months in French oak before being bottled unfined and unfiltered. Renaissance offers an unrepeatable, profoundly pure expression of Napa Valley’s eastern benchland terroir.

Celia Welch

Winemaker, Signorello Estate

Winemaker, Celia Welch

Celia brings a vast wealth of talent and knowledge and has been key in the creation of some of Napa Valley’s marquee wines. Celia Welch has been a winemaker for more than 30 years, after earning a B.S. degree in Fermentation Science from the University of California, Davis in 1982.

Her first interaction with grapes was under the huge oak tree in her backyard in Southern Oregon, where she and her siblings picked grape berries from stems for their father, an avid wine collector and home winemaker. Her parents also included the children on trips through Napa and Sonoma in the early 1960s, and, like most visitors, she was entranced with the beauty of the rolling vineyards.

Celia has been honored as Winemaker of the Year 2008 by Food & Wine Magazine, as one of Forbes.com’s “Top Ten Tastemakers of 2006," and with the Women for Winesense Rising Star Award from the Southern California chapter of this group; the national chapter of Women for Winesense inducted her into its Winemaker’s Hall of Fame as well.

Ray Signorello

Winemaker, Signorello Estate

Winemaker, Ray Signorello

One of the wine industry's young mavericks, Ray Signorello is a true wine entrepreneur. He is the Proprietor at his own Signorello Estate in Napa Valley; founder of Edge, Fuse, S and Trim Wines, Napa Valley and wine distributor in Canada through his Evolution Fine Wines venture. Ray's commitment to the best quality grapes and labor-intensive vineyard and winemaking practices are core principles that permeate all of his endeavors.

Born in San Francisco, Ray moved to Vancouver at a very young age where his father worked in the natural resource sector. His parents longed for California and in 1977 purchased some property on the Silverado Trail in Napa, now known as Signorello Estate. The property, formerly a racehorse retirement home, was virgin to grapes until Ray's father began to plant Chardonnay vineyards in 1980. The Signorello's were soon in the wine business selling their grapes to Caymus, Cakebread, Silverado and Cuvaison. After a few years, the Signorello family decided it was time to make their own wines (1985) since the quality of their grapes were among Napa's finest.

After graduating from University of British Columbia in 1988, Ray moved to Napa and dedicated himself to wine education and managing the winery operations.

Country born: United States
