Description
This 2024 Cabernet Sauvignon is a defining expression of Coombsville, sourced from the exciting new Equilibria Vineyard in the heart of the appellation. The site’s diatomaceous volcanic soils, cool microclimate, and organic, sustainable farming yield exceptional fruit. Crafted through a close collaboration between Benevolent Neglect winemaker Matt Nagy and Dylan Pecchenino, the wine is hand-harvested and selected from the vineyard’s finest blocks and barrels. This wine delivers complexity, balance, and a long, structured finish that perfectly captures Coombsville’s quiet, yet formidable power.
Matthew Nagy
Winemaker, Benevolent Neglect Wines
Matthew began his wine career in 2009 after graduating from The University of South Carolina, working vintages across New York, New Zealand, Washington, and California.
He moved to Napa in 2012 to work for Thomas Rivers Brown, where he truly began honing his craft in minimal intervention, terroir-driven winemaking. It was in 2014 when he founded Benevolent Neglect with that philosophy of "lo-fi" winemaking.
Later he went on to work alongside Steve Matthiasson for several years, gaining great exposure to unique varietals and regenerative farming.
His goals with Benevolent Neglect are to treat both outcast varietals like Counoise and California heritage varietals like Cabernet with the same care, treatment, and attention to detail.
