Description
Nestled into Halter Valley, a rare enclave of western Oakville, The Vineyard House is a boutique estate that sits atop an alluvial fan beside the historic Baldridge House. Defined by heritage, precision, and ambition, this wine is a decadent, lush and powerful expression of Jeremy Nickel’s home estate. Thoughtfully selected by winemakers Philippe Melka and Maayan Koschitzky, this Premiere Napa Valley lot blends blocks and varieties to capture Halter Valley’s unique voice, with harmonious balance, expressive character, and an unmistakable identity that is quintessential Napa Valley at its finest.
Philippe Melka & Maayan Koschitzky
Winemaker, The Vineyard House
The wines are made with the help of Atelier Melka, whose team oversees every critical decision in the winemaking process, including picking decisions, vinification and élevage, and the most critical practice: blending.
The key to excellence at The Vineyard House is “micro-fermentation.” Individual parcels — often mere rows — are picked at optimum ripeness, then vinified separately in three to five-ton lots.
After following the wines’ development for a year, proprietor Jeremy Nickel, Melka, and Koschitzky determine the optimal blend for each bottling.
Vinifying small lots means the potential of each row, then each barrel, is maximized in the final blends.
